Day 5: OMG Zion!

Wow
Location: Zion National Park, UT

Zion. My God. If you ever get to Utah, you have to go to Zion National Park. It is the most bizarre place you will ever see.

While the Grand Canyon was stunning, Zion is outrageous. Huge red rock mountains, the pavement at the park is red, and that all of these huge mountains used to be under the sea (a la Ariel) is a real mind bend.

I can't even describe it and the photos don't do it justice. Let's just say that if they have to stage the Mars landing, Zion is a cost efficient alternative.

We went hiking to the Emerald pools, there were lots of people on the trail and 90% of them were from Europe. Being an American at these national parks has definitely put us in the minority. There are people from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and those are only the languages I could recognize. I didn't expect so many foreigners but it is delightful surprise. Makes it not only a nature experience, but a worldly one.

And walking through the parking lots of these parks is like the state license plate game on speed. New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, Connecticut, Quebec, etc. But I got to say, California plates win by a landslide. If we had to get a posse together, Cali would dominate. Glad to see my state represent.

So anyway-the moral of the day:

Go to Zion.

Go.

Who cares if the Mormons named it.
